When Developer Peter Armstrong and GC David Haller came to DL Marble to put together the Stone Collection at 17 East 12th Street, DL Marble was excited to offer their clients something unusual and new in today's palette and design. We wanted to offer them a real, true, Wow- Factor!

So we recommended some of the finest Travertines that Italy had to offer. While the slabs on this project have all been carefully selected, cut, and approved, DL Marble had to take it 1 step futher and make sure they bookmatched where ever possible.

Now we needed to contrast the floor to make the walls pop and so we found an incredible material with incredible history - Machu Picchu, from the mountains of Machu Pichu in Peru. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views.

Suddenly, we had an exceptional pallet of 2 beautiful highly exotic travertines in our collection to use at 17 East 12th Street and the clients loved it. Every single slab has been hand selected by our President Dana Bass while on his trip in Italy. It has then been exported from Italy to New York and laid out one bathroom at a time in our shop. We matched veins and colors to ensure continuous flowing colors and then very slowly and very carefully custom cut all pieces to perfectly fit in their assigned bathrooms. Travertine is an exceptional material, especially these two. This has been one of our favorite projects, as it wasn't about cutting costs or rushing the project, but about getting everything perfect and beautiful and making sure the spirit of Machu Picchu and the ancient stones of Rome, Italy came together as one warm demonstration of a timeless master bathroom.
